Summer is here, let’s actually enjoy it.

Dear Students & Friends,

I hope that this newsletter finds you taking the time to enjoy the beauty (warm air, cool ocean breezes, time with friends and loved ones) and just the blissfully happy feeling of summertime.

I have been experiencing A LOT of newness, and it feels incredibly appropriate during this wonderful season, so I wanted to share it with you.

For starters, I was not so gently reminded that we all need to slow down and take breaks from time to time, yesterday, when I accidentally washed my iphone. Yep; it was thrown into the wash with all of my other clothes, never to look back. Resuscitation was out of the question. It had drowned. Needless to say, this was nearly devastating to discover, and even more stressful to attempt to remedy, as I had to wait a full 24 hours for the insurance company to mail me a new one. “It’s okay”, I told myself, “just breathe…”.

And it ACTUALLY was … totally OKAY.

It was more than okay. It was blissful. It gave me the chance to spend time away from that oh-so-wonderful and yet oh-so-powerful device that typically rules our lives, and really CONNECT with my fiance, and with myself instead. What an amazing experience! In fact, I highly recommend it. Well, maybe not washing your phone per se. You can just power it down, or there are apps out there that allow you to schedule times where your wifi turns off, and the phone goes into airplane mode, like Timeriffic, or DinnerTimePlus (which is really meant for kids, but also a fantastic way for you to schedule distraction-free time for YOU and YOU alone.)

You never know what amazing-ness can happen when you put your phone down, get outside and immerse yourself in the soul nurturing beauty of nature.

Instead of spending my time answering emails and responding to text messages yesterday evening, I spent some quality time with my Love. I have been blessed with the love of a most extraordinary human who lights up my life, and who also happens to be my partner and co-founder of and Chef for our Wellness Retreats as well as the founder of his very own business, Sublime Harvest, my dear, sweet, sweet Scotty Craig. How wonderful it was to be 100% present with him as we both experienced one of the most stunning sunsets I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying in the Hamptons. I was reminded of one of my very favorite quotes:

“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh

I am so so so GRATEFUL: for him … for the summer … and for all of you.

Thanks for reading, and I hope I get to see you somewhere along the way …

If I have not met you yet, I hope you are loving summer from wherever you are, and that I get the opportunity to share a little bit of this wonderful life with you, either on our retreat in Nica or somewhere else, sometime soon.

Have a beautiful day.

All of my LOVE,
